MIR VAM ist eine universelle Grußformel in christlicher und muslimischer Tradition: „Friede sei mit dir“. Was bedeutet das heute im Zusammentreffen von Ost und West? Wie finden diejenigen Frieden und Freiheit, die die Erfahrungen des Krieges mit sich tragen? Was ist Toleranz, und wo setzen wir ihr mit Blick auf unser Verständnis von Freiheit Grenzen?
Neda Sokolovska geht der Frage nach, wie westliche Gesellschaften mit den Kriegstraumata anderer umgehen. Ihre Arbeit ist als sogenannte „earphone verbatim“-Performance entstanden, die auf Recherche-Interviews und Gesprächen in bulgarischen Flüchtlingscamps fußt. Nach der Verbatim-Methode geben die Akteure auf der Bühne die Aussagen der Interviewten, deren Sichtweisen und Emotionen wortgetreu wieder. Mit dem Hinweis auf die doppelte religiöse und kulturelle Dimension einer traditionellen Grußformel hinterfragt die Regisseurin, wie wir Frieden, Freiheit und Krieg im globalen Kontext heute erfahren und deuten.
Neda Sokolovska, *1981 in Bulgarien, studierte Schauspiel an den staatlichen Akademien für Theater und Film in Sofia, Bulgarien, und Helsinki, Finnland, bevor sie an letzterer auch ein Regiestudium absolvierte. Während sie als Schauspielerin in unterschiedlichen Theater- und Filmprojekten spielt, konzentriert sie sich als Regisseurin auf die sogenannte Verbatim-Praxis als spezifische Form des Dokumentartheaters.


MIR VAM is a universal salutation in Christian and Muslim tradition; “peace be with you”. What does that mean today in the meeting of East and West? How do those with experience of war find peace and freedom? What is tolerance and where do we impose its limits with respect to our concept of freedom?
Neda Sokolovska pursues the question of how Western societies deal with the war trauma of others. Her work originated as a so-called “earphone verbatim”-performance, based on research interviews and conversations in Bulgarian refugee camps. In the verbatim method, the actors onstage faithfully present the interviewees’ statements, views, and emotions. With reference to the double religious and cultural dimension of a traditional salutation, the director questions how we experience and interpret peace, freedom, and war in a global context.
Neda Sokolovska, *1981 in Bulgaria, studied acting at the state Academies for Theater and Film in Sofia, Bulgaria and Helsinki, Finland, before completing a degree in direction at the latter. While acting in various theater and film projects, as a director she concentrates on the so-called verbatim practice as a specific form of documentary theater.
