Die französischen Filmemacher Edgar Morin und Jean Rouch befragten 1961 Passanten, Studenten, Arbeiter, Immigranten vor laufender Kamera nach ihren Glücksvorstellungen und Lebenszielen. Damit erfanden sie das Cinéma vérité, das „Kino der Wahrheit“, das mit ethnologischer Schärfe Alltagsrealitäten zu dokumentieren versuchte.
Justine Lequettes erste Regiearbeit nutzt deren Schlüsselfragen zum Sprung mitten in unsere Arbeitsgesellschaft: Was bedeuten Arbeit, Glück, Selbstverwirklichung oder Utopie für den Einzelnen und die Gemeinschaft? Die damaligen Gräben zwischen Ideal und Realität spiegelt die Regisseurin über die verschiedenen Epochen bis zu ihrer eigenen Generation, für die die Widersprüche innerhalb der Arbeits- und Konsumgesellschaft fortbestehen. Lequette bedient sich dabei verschiedener literarischer Quellen und knüpft gemeinsam mit ihren vier Darstellern ebenso spielfreudig wie theatral an Rouchs / Morins CHRONIK EINES SOMMERS an: Was passiert, wenn wir unser Leben durch das Prisma der Arbeit betrachten?
Das Kollektiv um Justine Lequette, *1985, hat an der Schauspielschule in Liège (E.S.A.C.T.) zusammen gefunden. Sie selbst hat zunächst als Schauspielerin gearbeitet und Jura studiert, bevor sie ihr Theaterstudium aufnahm. In ICH GEBE EINEN TEIL VON MIR AUF UND PASSE IHN AN zeichnet sie für die Regie verantwortlich.

In 1961 the French filmmakers Edgar Morin and Jean Rouch questioned pedestrians, students, workers, and immigrants in front of a running camera about their idea of luck and their life goals. Thereby they invented the “cinema vérité”, the “cinema of truth”, that attempted to document everyday realities with ethnological keenness.
Justine Lequette’s first work of direction utilizes their key questions to leap straight into the middle of our working society: What do work, luck, self-realization, or utopia mean for the individual and the community? The director mirrors the past discrepancies between the ideal and reality across different eras in her own generation, for whom the contradictions within the society of work and consumption persist. Lequette draws on various literary sources and ties into Rouch’s/Morin’s CHRONICLE OF A SUMMER playfully as well as theatrically: What happens when we examine our life through the prism of work?
The collective around Justine Lequette, *1985, came together at the acting school in Liège (E.S.A.C.T.). She worked initially as an actress and studied law, before she began her theater studies. In I GIVE UP A PART OF ME WHICH I ADAPT, she is responsible for direction.
