Zwei Menschen, die sich gut finden. Zwei, die nichts anderes wollen, als zueinander. Zwei, die jedes Mal, wenn sie „Du“ sagen, doch immer wieder beim „Ich“ landen. Ihre Gefühle sind echt, sitzen in jeder Faser ihrer sehnsuchtsvollen Körper. Nur dass im Strom der klugen Gedanken die Unsicherheit lauert. Sie schaffen es nicht vom „Ich“ zum „Du“. Sie sitzen fest, als hätte man sie ausgeraubt.
Anna Franziska Jäger und Nathan Ooms gehen von der Beobachtung aus, dass unser Alltag zunehmend von sogenannten „Ambient“-Erfahrungen durchdrungen ist. Internet-Serien, Popmusik, aber auch die Inhalte der Social-Media-Feeds schaffen ein Umfeld von Lifestyle-Oberflächen. Die permanente Inszenierung von analogen wie virtuellen Umgebungen (Ambient) erzeugt ein Dauerrauschen, in dem das Ich abwesend anwesend und pseudo-aktiv durch Zeit und Raum treibt. Um zu zeigen, was passiert, wenn sich der Druck erhöht und die individuelle Verzweiflung versucht, die „Ambient“-Blase zu sprengen, brauchen Ooms und Jäger außer sich selbst weder Videos noch Laptops auf der Bühne. Da sind die beiden furiosen Performer ganz und gar in ihrem Element und beunruhigend komisch.

Two people who like each other. Two people who want nothing more than to get closer to each other. Two people, who, every time they say “you”, somehow end up back at the “I”. Their feelings are real. Their feelings are in every fibre of their yearning bodies. But insecurity lurks in the stream of their clever thoughts. They can’t make it from the “I” to the “you”. They’re stuck, as if they had been robbed.
Anna Franziska Jäger and Nathan Ooms start from the observation that our everyday life is increasingly permeated by so-called “ambient” experiences. Internet series, pop music, but also the content of social media feeds create an environment of superficial lifestyles. The permanent production of analogue as well as virtual environments (ambience) creates a permanent white noise in which the self, absently present and pseudo-active, drifts through time and space. To demonstrate what happens when the pressure increases and the individual desperately tries to burst the “ambient” bubble, Ooms and Jäger need neither videos nor laptops on stage, they only need themselves. On stage the two furious performers are completely in their element and disturbingly funny.

Anna Franziska Jäger und Nathan Ooms (beide *1996) haben ihr Masterstudium Schauspiel an der Kunsthochschule (KASK) in Gent abgeschlossen. Ooms absolvierte zudem einen Master in Choreografie bei P.A.R.T.S. in Brüssel. Jäger spielte 2019 u. a. die Hauptrolle in Eva Cools Kinofilm CLEO. Als Performer*innen arbeiten beide mit verschiedenen belgischen Künstler*innen. AMBIENT THEATRE FURY ist ihre dritte gemeinsame Arbeit und die erste nach Ende des Studiums, entstanden in einer Residenz am Genter Produktionshaus Campo.
