Das Theater ist ein guter Ort, um „auf Probe“ zu handeln. Das fanden auch die Männer im alten Athen und erörterten auf der „skene“ Fragen der politischen Herrschaft. Mit Hilfe des Dichters Aischylos haben sie dann in der ORESTIE vor 2500 Jahren die Rachegöttinnen des Muttermords, die Erinnyen, kaltgestellt und die Kopfgeburt Athene verkünden lassen, die Vernunft sei jetzt männlich. Das war clever, Kollegen. Aber das mit der Vernunft habt ihr nicht gut hinbekommen. Dabei hattet ihr so viel Zeit. Jetzt habt ihr mal Sendepause. Jetzt schlägt die andere Hälfte des Planeten zurück. Hemmungslos! Blutig! Und ausführlich!
RAGE ist ein kathartisches Rachespiel über den alltäglichen Sexismus von Männern gegenüber Frauen. Vier Frauen spielen mit immer wieder neu verteilten Rollen sexuelle Übergriffe aus ihrem Alltag nach und erlauben sich, dass ihnen der Kragen platzt. Die, die den „Macker“ spielt, nimmt den Schnauzbart und dann fliegen sie über Bord, die anerzogenen Techniken des Wegduckens, Runterschluckens und der Toleranz. Dann gibt es eins auf die Nuss – gnadenlos und mit krassen Kampfchoreographien.

The theatre is a good place to put things “on trial”. The men in ancient Athens thought so too and debated questions about political rule on the “skene”. With the help of the poet Aeschylus, 2500 years ago, they put the avenging goddesses of matricide, the Erinyes, out of action in the ORESTEIA and had Athena, who was born from Zeus’s head, proclaim that reason was now male. Pretty clever of you, guys. But you didn’t do such a great job with the whole reason thing. Even though you had so much time. But now you’re off the air for a bit. Now the other half of the planet is fighting back. Without restraint! Bloody! And full scale!
RAGE is a cathartic play of vengeance about the everyday sexism that women deal with from men. Four women, who constantly switch roles, act out the sexual harassment they experience in their everyday lives and let themselves get really pissed off. The woman who plays the “bloke” takes the moustache and then the techniques they’ve learned of avoidance, swallowing your anger and tolerance go flying overboard. Someone’s going to get a punch – it’s merciless and the fight choreographies are badass.

Das Festival ist so geplant, dass man an einem Tag mehrere Inszenierungen hintereinander sehen kann – so entstehen verschiedene Parcours.

Regie / Direction
Emilienne Flagothier, *1993, studierte Theaterregie an der Hochschule für Darstellende Künste INSAS in Brüssel. Sie ist Mitbegründerin des selbstverwalteten Theaterkollektivs ASBL ASBL und in verschiedenen gesellschaftspolitischen Netzwerken aktiv. RAGE ist die zweite Inszenierung, die sie in einem institutionellen Produktionsrahmen an einem staatlichen Theater erarbeitet hat. Sie wurde 2023 am Theater MARS in Mons uraufgeführt und koproduziert vom Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles.
Emilienne Flagothier, b. 1993, studied Theatre Directing at the INSAS School of Performing Arts in Brussels. She is a co-founder of the self-managed theatre collective ASBL ASBL and active in several sociopolitical networks. RAGE is the second production she has created within an institutional framework at a state theatre. This piece premiered at the MARS Theatre in Mons in 2023 and was coproduced by the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles.
