DECAZEVILLE – DER BERG, DER BRENNT ist ein Ort, eine Landschaft und ein Porträt der Menschen, die dort leben. Für Fast Forward schlägt die Kleinstadt aus der Peripherie im Südwesten Frankreichs in der ehemaligen Robotron-Kantine ihre Dresdner Zelte auf. In bewegten Bildern, O-Tönen und einem Parcours aus sieben Leinwänden erzählt DECAZEVILLE vom Leben in einer Region, die mit vielen in Europa vergleichbar ist: nachindustriell, strukturschwach, geprägt von Abwanderung und schwindenden sozialen und ökonomischen Dienstleistungen.
Aber dieses DECAZEVILLE ist keine Sozialreportage, sondern eine Einladung: zu so etwas wie einer Vorabendserie, vielleicht zum Beginn einer Freundschaft, in den Alltag jenseits der Events, zu einer Montage aus Leben, Eigensinn, Engagement, Gegenwehr, Humor und ungeahnten Abgründen. DECAZEVILLE – DER BERG, DER BRENNT zeigt das Leben dort, wo selten jemand hinschaut und holt es ins Bild, auf die Bühne, in die Welt eben.

DECAZEVILLE – THE MOUNTAIN THAT BURNS is a place, a landscape and a portrait of the people who live there. This small town on the outskirts of southwest France will pitch its tents in Dresden for Fast Forward in the former robotron-canteen. Through moving images, original sound recordings and a parcours with seven screens, DECAZEVILLE tells the story of life in a region that is similar to many other regions in Europe: post-industrial, lacking in infrastructure, marked by emigration and disappearing social and economic services.
But DECAZEVILLE is not a social reportage, it’s an invitation: to something like an afternoon TV series, perhaps to the beginning of a friendship, to everyday life beyond the big events, to a montage of life, determination, commitment, resistance, humour and unexpected dark depths. DECAZEVILLE – THE MOUNTAIN THAT BURNS portrays life in the kind of place we rarely look at and brings it onto the screen, onto the stage and into the world.
Parcours
Das Festival ist so geplant, dass man an einem Tag mehrere Inszenierungen hintereinander sehen kann – so entstehen verschiedene Parcours.
The festival is planned in such a way that you can see several productions one after the other on one day – this means there are several circuits you can take.

Regie / Direction
Nina Gazaniol Vérité, *1987, studierte Darstellende Kunst, Journalismus und Kunst im öffentlichen Raum, ist als Bildende und Video-Künstlerin sowie als Dokumentarfilmerin in verschiedenen Kontexten tätig und arbeitet mit und für andere Künstler*innen. Mit ihren eigenen Arbeiten sucht sie nach der Verbindung von Film, Raum, Performance und Dokumentation, um für ein Publikum Situationen zwischen Realität und Fiktion, Poesie und Dokumentation zu schaffen. DECAZEVILLE entstand über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren und ist ihre erste abendfüllende Inszenierung.
Nina Gazaniol Vérité, b. 1987, studied Performing Arts, Journalism and Art in Public Space, works as a visual artist, video artist and documentary filmmaker in various contexts, and with and for other artists. In her own work, she seeks the connection between film, space, performance and documentary work in order to create situations for the audience that oscillate between reality and fiction, poetry and documentary. DECAZEVILLE was created over a period of two years and is her first full-length production.
