„Es ist das schönste Gedicht des 20. Jahrhunderts“, sagt der serbische Regisseur Nemanja Mijović über Sarah Kanes 4.48 PSYCHOSE. Es ist der letzte Theatertext der britischen Dramatikerin, geschrieben 1999, kurz bevor sie sich mit 28 Jahren das Leben nahm. Kanes Stücke sind Herausforderungen. Sie sind kämpferisch, weil sie illusionslos sind. Sie sprechen gefährlich, schmerzlich und überwältigend schön über die Liebe. Sie sehen nicht weg von der Tatsache, dass Menschen einander Gewalt antun.
Ihr erster Text ZERBOMBT entstand mit dem Eindruck des Krieges in Jugoslawien. Ihr letzter handelt von Depression und von Selbstmordgedanken, die sich schrittweise entwickeln und dabei von der unbändigen Sehnsucht erzählen, in dieser Welt leben und lieben zu können. Aber was, wenn das „System Therapie“ nicht anschlägt? Wenn die Medikamente nicht helfen und nur das Denken und Fühlen betäuben? Wenn die Wut Gründe nennt? Wenn jemand lügt statt liebt? Wenn das Ich sich nicht findet, weil es kein Gegenüber gibt?

“It’s the most beautiful poem of the 20th century”, says Serbian director Nemanja Mijović of Sarah Kane’s 4.48 PSYCHOSIS. It’s the last play by the British playwright, written in 1999, just before she took her own life at 28 years old. Kane’s plays are challenging. They’re hard-hitting, because they don’t have any illusions. They talk about love dangerously, painfully and with overwhelming beauty. They don’t shy away from facing the fact that people are violent towards each other.
Her first play BLASTED was written around the time of the war in Yugoslavia. Her last one deals with depression and gradually developing suicidal thoughts, and at the same time expresses the boundless desire to live in this world and be able to love. But what if the “system of therapy” doesn’t work? If the medication doesn’t help and only numbs your thoughts and feelings? If anger gives you reasons to feel this way? If someone lies instead of loving? If the self doesn’t find itself, because there’s no one else there?

Das Festival ist so geplant, dass man an einem Tag mehrere Inszenierungen hintereinander sehen kann – so entstehen verschiedene Parcours.
The festival is planned in such a way that you can see several productions one after the other on one day – this means there are several circuits you can take.

Nemanja Mijović, *2000, inszenierte Kanes 4.48 PSYCHOSE in seinem dritten Studienjahr an der Theaterfakultät der Universität der Künste in Belgrad. Er ordnet das Publikum um eine zentrale Spielfläche herum an, die sowohl innen als auch von außen bespielt wird. Die Inszenierung entstand zusammen mit Studierenden der Theaterakademien in Belgrad und Novi Sad und ist zugleich deren erste Arbeit als Kunstkollektiv NIBIRU. Im Juni 2024 schloss Mijović sein Regie-Studium mit einer Inszenierung von Marius von Mayenburgs Stück PARASIT ab.
Nemanja Mijović, b. 2000, directed Kane’s 4.48 PSYCHOSIS in the third year of his studies at the theatre department of the University of the Arts in Belgrade. He arranges the audience around a central performance area, with the performance taking place both inside and outside it. The performance was created together with students from the theatre academies in Belgrade and Novi Sad and is also their first collaboration as the art collective NIBIRU. In June 2024, Mijović completed his degree in Directing with a production of Marius von Mayenburg’s play PARASIT.
