Was erzählt die Bildentwicklung in der analogen Fotografie über die Wirklichkeit? Das Bild, das man aus der Realität nimmt, in einen Ausschnitt bringt und mittels Auslöser durch die vorher bestimmte Dauer des Lichteinfalls auf eine beschichtete Folie brennt, bleibt unsichtbar – bis der Film durch einen weiteren chemischen Prozess entwickelt und das Bild, ein weiteres Mal belichtet, auf dem Fotopapier wieder sichtbar wird. Wo ist das Bild in diesem Zwischenreich? Was bedeutet es, ein Bild einzufangen? In der Kunst? Auf dem Theater? Und wovon genau? Von einem Leben, einem Gefühl, Beziehungen, einem Versprechen? Will man es überhaupt, dass die Dinge sichtbar werden? Oder nutzt man nur die Gelegenheit, sich selbst zur Schau zu stellen?
Zusammen mit ihrem 2017 gegründeten Ensemble Animal Architecte verwandelt Camille Dagen den fotografischen Prozess auf der Bühne zu einem poetischen und philosophischen Spiel um Präsenz und Wirklichkeit, Gedanke und Gefühl, Ordnung und Poesie. Im Labor der empfindlichen Oberflächen entstehen zarte und verblüffende, extrovertierte wie introvertierte Momente um den rätselhaften Versuch, etwas festzuhalten.
Camille Dagen (*1992) studierte Tanz und Schauspiel am Konservatorium Paris und Philosophie und Literatur an der dortigen École normale supérieure (ENS), ehe sie ihr Schauspielstudium an der Theaterschule des National­theaters Straßburg aufnahm. Parallel entstanden auch erste Regiearbeiten; DURÉE D’EXPOSITION ist ihre erste Inszenierung außerhalb des Studiums und ihre erste Stückentwicklung.

In analogue photography, what does the development of a picture reveal about the real world? The image is taken from reality, cropped to focus on one detail, and burnt onto photo-sensitive paper by means of a shutter release for a duration of time calculated according to the incidence of light. The image remains invisible until the photograph is developed through a further chemical process and the image, once exposed again, becomes visible on photographic paper.
Where is the image in this intermediate realm? What does it mean to capture a picture? In art? In the theater? And of what, exactly? An image of a life, a feeling, of relationships, of a promise? Does one even want things to become visible? Or does one just take the opportunity to showcase oneself?
Together with her ensemble Animal Architecte, founded in 2017, Camille Dagen transforms the photographic process into a poetic and philosophical play for the stage about presence and reality, thought and emotion, order and poetry. In the laboratory of sensitive surfaces, delicate and astonishing, extroverted and introverted moments arise around the mysterious attempt to capture something.
Camille Dagen (*1992) studied dance and acting at the Paris Conservatory and philosophy and literature at the École normale supérieure (ENS) there before she began her acting studies at the Theatre School of the Strasbourg National Theater. During that time she also wrote her first directorial works. DURÉE D’EXPOSITION is her first production outside her studies and her first creative development of a theater piece.
