FAST-FORWARD-PUBLIKUMSPREISRÄGER 2017

Das Schweizer Performance-Kollektiv helium x erklärt die Bühne zum Labor für Krisenforschung. Die Krise als Dauerzustand, als Daseinsform, als globale Gegenwart einer Gesellschaft, die sich am Rande des Abgrunds eingerichtet hat. Mit einfachen Spielmitteln – und einer Materialschlacht, die sich lustvoll am Sortiment der Baumärkte bedient – begibt sich das Kollektiv auf die Suche nach einem adäquaten Zugriff auf das vorherrschende System. Ob Lehman Brothers, wertlose Immobilien, wachsende autoritäre Tendenzen, ein Frühlingsregen auf Grönland, immer mehr Systemreferenzen und Krisen-Symptome finden in Form von Objekten auf der Bühne ihren Platz. Die Performance analysiert das multiple Geflecht und erprobt Ursachen, Dynamiken und Lösungsstrategien. Und weil die Krise in ihrer Krisenhaftigkeit nicht einfach zu fassen ist, geht helium x das Phänomen augenzwinkernd und polyglott auch als Sprach- und Übersetzungskrise an.
DIE GROSSE KRISE ist die zweite Produktion des Performance-Kollektivs, das sich 2015 für DIE GROSSE SCHLACHT in Basel um den Regisseur und Autor Philippe Heule gegründet hat. Helium x macht sich nach eigenen Aussagen das Theater als Simulationsraum für Denkmodelle zunutze.


The Swiss performance collective helium x declares the stage as a laboratory for crisis research. The crisis as a permanent state, as a form of existence, as a global present of a society, constructed at the edge of the abyss. With simple means of performance – and a battle of materials, which lustfully helps itself to a construction store inventory – the collective sets out on the search for an adequate access to the prevailing system. Whether Lehman Brothers, worthless real estate, growing authoritarian tendencies, or a spring awakening in Greenland, ever more references to the system and symptoms of crisis find their place as objects onstage. The performance analyses this intricate web and tests causes, dynamics, and solutions. And while the crisis in its state of crisis is not simple to grasp, helium x approaches this phenomenon polyglot and with a wink, interpreting it as a crisis of language and translation.
THE GREAT CRISIS is the second production of the performance collective, which founded itself in 2015 for THE GREAT BATTLE in Basel around author and director Philippe Heule. According to their own statements, helium x utilizes the theater as a simulation room for conceptual models.
