Was haben westliche Clubkultur und das nordkoreanische Arirang-Festival gemeinsam? Die Freizeitkultur, die den Tanzwütigen seit den 70er Jahren von Underground bis Mainstream, von Disco bis Techno immer wieder neue Beats anbietet und eine zweimal im Jahr stattfindende Massenchoreografie, bei der 100.000 Menschen als lebende Mosaiksteinchen die Geschichte ihres Landes in Bildern darstellen?
Mit einer scheinbar losen Verkettung von ebenso humorvollen wie immer wieder ins Albtraumhafte rutschenden Alltagssituationen steuert das spanische Kollektiv Atresbandes auf seine gewagte These zu. Dabei geht es um den schmalen Grat zwischen Inhalt und Oberfläche, Werbeslogan und Wertekanon, Pathos und politischer Ideologie. Macht die Massenkultur das Individuum glücklich, weil sie den*die Einzelne*n von der Unzuverlässigkeit der Welt und der eigenen Verantwortung dafür befreit? Oder liegt der Rede von unserem großen „individualistischen“ Zeitalter einfach nur die größte Wahrnehmungsstörung aller Zeiten zugrunde?
Atresbandes bestehen im Kern aus Mónica Almirall Batet (*1987), Albert Pérez Hidalgo (*1982) und Miquel Segovia Garrell (*1986). Alle drei schlossen zwischen 2013 und 2014 ihr Schauspielstudium an der Theaterhochschule ESAD in Barcelona ab. Neben ihren Engagements in verschiedenen Produktionen der zeitgenössischen spanischen Theaterszene haben sie seitdem drei eigene Stücke auf die Bühne gebracht sowie in Barcelona das Residenz-Projekt Croquis_BCN für freie Theaterschaffende in Europa mit ins Leben gerufen. all in ist ihre jüngste Produktion.

What do western club culture and the North Korean Arirang Festival have in common: the former, a leisure culture that since the 1970s has been offering dance lovers new beats from underground to mainstream, from disco to techno, and the latter, a mass choreography that takes place twice a year in which 100,000 people, acting as living mosaic pieces, represent the history of their country in pictures.
The Spanish collective Atresbandes approaches its bold thesis with an apparently loose chain of everyday situations that are as humorous as they are constantly slipping into a nightmare. It is about the fine line between content and surface, advertising slogan and canon of values, pathos and political ideology. Does mass culture make the individual happy because it frees the individual from the unreliability of the world and their own responsibility for it? Or is the talk of our great ‘individualistic’ age simply based on the greatest perception disorder of all time?
At its core, Atresbandes consists of Mónica Almirall Batet (*1987), Albert Pérez Hidalgo (*1982) and Miquel Segovia Garrell (*1986). All three graduated from the ESAD Theatre School in Barcelona between 2013 and 2014. In addition to their engagements in various productions of the contemporary Spanish theater scene, they have since staged three of their own plays and helped to launch the residence project Croquis_BCN for freelance theater artists in Europe in Barcelona. all in is their latest production.
