Europa zu Gast in Dresden: Fast Forward, das europäische Festival für junge Regie, ist ein neues Format in der Dresdner Theaterlandschaft. Die Stadt ist ab jetzt einmal im Jahr Gastgeber für den europäischen Regienachwuchs. Mit dem Festival schafft das Staatsschauspiel Dresden jungen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern und dem Publikum einen Ort für Begegnung, Austausch und Diskussion. Damit verkörpert Fast Forward sowohl das Bekenntnis zu Europa als auch die Einladung zum Perspektivwechsel – in künstlerischer wie in thematischer Hinsicht. Denn eine Kultur des Miteinanders ist ohne den Blick auf Unterschiede, auf verschiedene Lebensweisen und Erfahrungen nicht zu haben. Und die Frage nach Veränderung gehört zum Blickwinkel kommender Generationen dazu. Als Initiative für Nachwuchsförderung, kulturelle Vielfalt und Teilhabe, als Blick über den Tellerrand und als Baustein für die Bewerbung Dresdens zur europäischen Kulturhauptstadt freue ich mich auf dieses neue Festival und wünsche Publikum wie gastierenden Künstlerinnen und Künstlern vier erlebnisreiche Tage in Dresden.

Europe as guest in Dresden: Fast Forward, the European festival for young stage directors, is a new format in Dresden’s theatrical landscape. From now on, the city will once a year host the new generation of European directors. With the festival, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden is able to provide a place for young artists and the audience to meet, exchange, and discuss. Therein, Fast Forward embodies not only the avowal to Europe, but also the invitation for a change in perspective – both artistically and thematically. For a culture of togetherness is impossible without an understanding of differences, of differing ways of life and experiences. And the question of change is integral to the viewpoint of coming generations.
As an initiative for the advancement of the young, cultural diversity, and participation, as a glance outside the box, and as a building block for Dresden’s application for the title of European cultural capital, I look forward to this new festival and wish both the audience and our guest artists four eventful days in Dresden.
